On Wednesday I hiked at the Jones Bridge Unit of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area with the Sonny Day Hikers. A crisp morning, but the hike warmed us. I did not expect much color, so I was pleasantly surprised. The first two pictures are from this hike
On Thursday I stopped by Gibbs Gardens to see the maples in the Japanese Garden. I was there midday in bright sunlight, so the colors were incredibly vibrant. The other two pictures are from Gibbs Gardens.
I attended a photography workshop at George L Smith State Park near Twin City, GA in late October. We got some very nice color in the trees. The water level was at least 5, maybe more, feet below normal, so much more of the root ball of each tree is visible. And we could walk to places that would usually require a kayak.
What we had was a lot of trees that all looked largely the same. The challenge was to find images that were not all the same. That was a challenge.

State Park with the Sonny Day Hikers. It was raining or rainy most of the time, but I got out anyway since the water made the colors pop. And lastly, we had a foggy sunrise in early November, but there was enough light to get a bit of color.
A group of us from the North Georgia Photography Club leapfrogged a train from the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum in Chattanooga, TN south to Summerville, GA and back. That took all day as the train took four hours each way to cover the 50 or so miles each way.
We had a few colorful twilights and sunrises in late September and early October. I did not have much other chance to get out.
I spent a couple days wandering the rim of the Grand Canyon just to look at it and try to find some interesting images.
A few of the images I have from this period. Many are morning twilight at West Bank Park on Lake Lanier. One is from a neighbor’s yard.
A few more trips to the lake for sunrise. The weather has been very hot and humid, not the sort of thing that make me want to get out a lot.
I drove from home to visit family in Wisconsin and Minnesota, and to move some furniture from one state to another in the process. I stopped first at Fall Creek Falls State Park near Spenser, TN. I hope for more water in the falls, but such is life.
From there I went on to Marathon City, WI to drop off an antique rocker. I stayed overnight and got some interesting images the following morning.
On to the Twin Cities to see siblings and other relatives, and to pick up an antique sewing machine that moved to Georgia. While there I went one morning to the Wood Lake Nature Center in Richfield, and the next morning to the Cedar Ave pedestrian bridge. The water was to high for the waders at Wood Lake, so only one image there. The next morning was much more productive. The last morning, I walked around Lake Susan with my sister, and there were a few interesting images there.
