I did very little photography in February due to a variety of factors. But I did get the required images of the daffodils in the front yard.
From late November to now has been a very, very slow time for my photography. The weather has not be conducive and my personal situation has not let me get out much. I did make it a point to get out for the lasty sunset of 2024 and the first sunrise of 2025. Both those times were quite cold and did not offer much to use to compose an image. We had one of our rare snowfalls, and I was able to make some good images from that.
First a few from December 2024, ending with the last sunset of the year
And then a few from the first half of January 2025, beginning with the first sunrise of the new year
We spent a few days in mid-November at Blackl Rock Mountain State Park near Clayton, GA, Rain and fog on the first day, but I got a good image of the ducks on Black Rock Lake. I got an image at the visitor’s center just to show the fog, and I repeated that at the cabin after dinner and the next morning. The fog meant no view from any of the overlooks at sunrise, and the rain/fog meant really slick trails. We hiked the Tennessee Rock trail and down to Hi-Ada Falls. I captured a few images along the way. Sunrise the last morning was clear, but the light on the mountain as the sun popped over the hill was very nice.
Not a lot of good sunrises and few other opportunities this month.
The NGPC visited Berry College in Rome, GA on a busy Saturday morning in early November. The idea was to both find fall color and scout in preparation for the North Georgia Camera Club Council (NG3C) shootout the following weekend. The sky was overcast, so the colors were not a vibrant as if the sky were clear, but still, it was a fun morning.
We had only a trace of rain during October. Not a record, but one of the longer dry spells in Atlanta’s history. So the fall color never really materialized as it has in the past.
A few sunrises that were way better than most, a bit of fall color, and the fall blooms in the yard
The month began with a few good sunrises.
The first 21 days of September had a few really nice sunrises. However, we’ve not had many clouds or much rain in that period. Even my weeds won’t grow for lack of water. So I’ve been up many mornings for a walk by the lake, and I’ve photographed whatever I thought was interesting.
I got up for sunrise most days this month, and I got a few images I really like. Not many days provided great color, but a few were well above average.
