Mid to Late June 2023

A mixture of shots, some sunrises, some flowers in the yard, some at Chattahoochee Pointe Park. We had mostly cloudy/rainy mornings for several days, so nice sunrises were welcome. And more stuff was blooming. The second gallery is from a late June hazy summer sunrise over Lake Lanier.

A sunrise in June

Just a nice sunrise at Lake Lanier. The clouds moved into position right on time.

First Hosta Blooms

First is a set of images of the first hosta blooms of the year. The same two blooms from three different angles.

Early June 2023

Three things here: First is the annual Helen-to-the-Atlantic hot air balloon race. The race was not started on the day I was there because the wind was blowing the wrong way. The race did start the following day, but I was not there. On the third day I returned along with many photographers. At this event, onlookers are allowed to wander among the balloons as they are being inflated, and that is how I was able to take these pictures.

After the balloons were done, we went up to Ana-Ruby Falls since it is close by. I go there more often in the fall for the great color and because the light is better. But these are good images. just not my usual stuff.

The next days were two sunrises around a hike on the AT from Woody Gap to Gooch Gap and back.

Late May 2023

I made a trip to Gibbs Gardens hoping the wildflower meadow had not faded too far. It had not. I also made my usual visit to the Japanese Garden and the waterlily ponds.

And a few days later I had a nice sunrise at Lake Lanier. The lake is down a bit, so I have more foreground to use.

And one last sunrise for the month. Not a lot of color, but it was fun to watch the geese fly and the play of light on the clouds.

Sawnee Moutain Morning, May 2023

I hiked up the hill at Sawnee Mountain Preserve early one morning after rain overnight. The timing was right to get the sun through the trees before the mist burned off.

First Half of May 2023

A few blooms in the yard and a variety of sunrise shots.

End of April, Beginning of May 2023

A mishmash of shots of Lake Lanier sunrises and flowers in the yard.

Late April flowers, 2023

I visited a neighbor’s yard one morning to see what was blooming.

Sonny Day Hikers Spring Fling, 2023

We spent a couple days hiking the trails in and around Black Rock Mountain State Park in northeast Georgia. On my way to join the group, I stopped off at Sosebee Cove to see what I might find blooming. The blooms were good, both there and on the mountain. I hiked the Tennessee Rock Trail on the first day. On the second day, a few of us hiked around Black Rock Lake and partway up the mountain on the Edmunds backcountry trail. We went up the mountain in search of a waterfall, which we found without any trouble.
