If you live in Raleigh like me, a great place to start is Your Wild Life. These are the folks who studied your belly button lint, counted crickets in your basement, and are currently following your cats around to see what they do when they wander around outside. Check out their web site to see what they are up to right now.
Of course this is just the tip of the iceberg! You can sort penguin pics and transcribe Einstein’s letters. The more ambitious can build a radio telescope, or track down spiders in their home. Scientific American has a great list of projects. Choose one to commit to in 2015!
